Topic: How to stream all pc audio with Totalmix

Hey guys,

I'm using the UCX and I have to do a session online (probably in Zoom or similar) with some people i'm working with, mixing and mastering, and i want to share my screen, while sending both my mic sound (me speaking) and my pc audio, with the tracks i'm working on. However, i've never been able to do this, i can only put one or the other (mic and pc sound), not both at the same time.

What do i have to do in Totalmix to set it up correctly?

Thanks in advance!

Re: How to stream all pc audio with Totalmix

Route HW inputs and SW playbacks to a HW output as needed.
Easy task in submix mode: click to a HW output and move the faders of top and middle row as needed.
Enable loopback on this output, then you have the submix for this particular output on the corresponding HW input
which you can use for your communicator.
Some application might be limited to recording audio only from the 1st two channels …
In this case, the HW output has to be AN1/2 OUT, enable loopback there
and then you can record the loopback signal on the corresponding HW input, AN 1/2.

Re: How to stream all pc audio with Totalmix

Thanks ramses.

I tried routing to Adat 3/4 and 5/6 and enable playback there. Nobody hears me, nor do they hear reason. The only thing i can do is  selecting AN 1/2 so that they hear my voice. However i can't get the DAW audio to go through at the same time. The AN 1/2 in my totalmix does not have a Loopback button. What am i missing here?

Re: How to stream all pc audio with Totalmix

Is AN1/2 assigned to main out in control room section? If so, don’t forget to open the tools to get the loopback button!

As you can see there's no loopback button on AN 1/2.

Also how do you assign AN 1/2, or any other, to main out? I know main out is assigned to AN 1/2, but is that the same thing?

Re: How to stream all pc audio with Totalmix

With "assign" you move channels into the control room to get control room features.

What happens if you take AN1/2 out of the control room? Does it have a loopback button then?

On UFX+ and UFX III I have Loopback on Main Out, maybe this is something that has been "forgotten" by RME for the UCX or the "old" USB driver?

There is something you seem to get wrong, but I’m not sure what:
- you are talking about „AN 1/2“ in software playback row? There are no loopback buttons at all, they only are available in hardware output channels.
- you are talking about „AN 1/2“ assigned to Main out in control room section? As I already wrote, you have to click on the wrench symbol to open the tools then!

Main out and AN 1/2 is not the same. To have specific additional features or tools, there is the control room section. If you select „none“ for all the options main, speaker B, phones etc., all hardware outputs are appearing in order on the bottom row from left bottom corner on. For some applications, rather multimedia than studio usage, this can be more practical. Using TotalMix in mixing desk style, the control room section makes more sense.

No, it’s a mistake I also made once: the Main channel strip has two areas with buttons. The one with "Dim" on top is always open, the second one where the loopback button can be find, has to be opened as on every other channel by clicking on the wrench symbol.

Ups, didn't notice that he didn't select the settings behind the wrench symbol.

Re: How to stream all pc audio with Totalmix

Hey guys, thank you all for your answers.

Actually the answer was not on the totalmix as i'd done everything correctly there.
The answer was in the windows settings. I routed everything to adat 3/4 then i had to choose that as my input in Windows.
It's working perfectly now !

The information in post #3 sounded as if your application is limited to be able to get audio only from AN1/2.

But anyway, well done, you made it wink

Glad to hear you solved it. Anyway you know now, loopback is also available on Main output!
