Topic: Fireface UFXII hardware out polarity to monitor speaker

I am using No.3 & 4 to my monitor speaker.
But i don't know which one is left or right to my monitor speaker.

I can't find it on my manual.
So, I'm having difficulty to connect.
Can somebody tell me if line out has polarity ?
And let me know  No.3,  left or right as well as No.4.
Thank you.

Re: Fireface UFXII hardware out polarity to monitor speaker

Usually its Left Right in this order 3=left, 4=right
I never heard of a rule it's up to you.

On every audio device I know, it behaves exactly like that, first channel of a stereo pair is left, second is right. So I would clearly call it a rule.

The output sockets are balanced mono, no polarity question as with hi-fi speakers and cables. What monitor speakers do you have, what connectors do they have?

I am using Presonus Eris E3.5 monitors.
It has RCA jacks and TRS balanced.
I'm connecting UFXII No.3 & 4 to TRS balanced.
On the monitor's TRS jacks, it shows L / R clearly.
But not on the UFXII No.3 & 4 TRS jacks.

Thank you for your concern.

The sockets on the interface have no letters because each of them can be both, L or R, depending on your routing in the software.

The speakers have the L/R indication because both cables have to be plugged to the same 'main' unit. From there you have the cable going to the right speaker. The connectors on the RME interface can also be used as independent separate mono outputs, that’s why there is no L/R indication. In Totalmix you also can set the hardware outputs to mono. For linked stereo channel pairs (stereo button activated) it’s fixed to 1&2, 3&4, 5&6 and so on. It’s not possible to have a stereo pair 3&8 for example. On a stereo pair always the first channel (odd number) is left, second (even number) is right.

Now I understood why there is no L/R on Fireface II line output.
Also understood about totalmix stereo button.
And explain was rapid and precise.

Thanks everyone !
