Topic: UFX III round-trip latency USB3 vs PCIe

Hi all,

could someone measure RTL of UFX III connected in stand-alone mode via HDSPe card (RayDAT / MADI) vs directly into USB3 controller, preferably Fresco chipset?
I guess ramses could chime in if he has some time...

Regards!

Sry, no time for this. The difference will be so few that it is not worth spending the time.

You can see it already here / deduce it when comparing these values:

PCIe vs TB vs USB no significant difference.

And whether you have AD/DA conversion directly at the recording interface which is connected via USB or whether you have a PCIe card and the AD/DA conversion behind ADAT (which has also maybe only a very little delay of maybe a few samples .. it doesn't matter much this little time difference.

Concentrate simply on the solution that fits your demand best in terms of type of I/O and features.

You were right.
The diff UCX II via USB vs. UCX II via RayDAT, or BF gen1 via USB vs RayDAT is less than 0,1 ms.
Preempt lowlatency Linux kernel in my test case, USB devices in CC mode.

Although the USB way needs proper chipset and well implemented. Otherwise the diffs get longer.
