Topic: ADI-2 Pro FSR UFL Levels Not Matching Totalmix

I'm using an ADI-2 Pro FSR connected to UFX via AES. Current drivers/versions on everything.

My horizontal levels on the ADI appear like they are getting limited to -3.0 (less than the main out in Totalmix). When I switch the ADI over to USB mode and play back the same material, the levels match the levels that were reading in totalmix and playback louder.

Forgive me if I've missed something in the manual that references this.

Thanks for any advice.

Incomplete setup description. There is a -3 dB option for digital levels when using the SRC on the digital input. Manual 14.1.1 SPDIF / Remap Keys, SRC Gain dig.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll put detailed info below.

Setup:
2018 Macmini 12.5.1
Pro Tools Studio 2023.6.0

Fireface UFX (1st gen) connected to computer via USB (RME Device firmware v360)

Fireface USB Settings (Driver: v3.28 B)
Options:
DSP-Not Selected
ADAT2 Output-AES/SPDIF
AES Input Source-AES
AES Output Format-Professional
Word Clock I/O-Not Selected
Clock Mode:
Sample Rate-48k (matches internal clock on ADI-2 ProFSR)
Clock Source-AES
Current Clock-AES/EBU In
Input Status:
Word Clock-No Lock
AES-Sync (48k)
ADAT 1-No Lock
ADAT 2-No Lock

Total Mix Version 1.8.3
Main Outputs Assigned to AES

ADI-2 Pro FSR (BE)-Connected to UFX via AES In & Out
***Note: Unit was purchased by a previous owner and reset to factory settings using the process stated in the manual***
Clock source set to INT
AD/DA Source set to AES
Ref Level +4
Auto Ref Level OFF
SRC set to AES In
No change in horizontal levels when swtiching SRC Gain dig. from 0dB to -3dB
Horizontal meter on Main Output display on the ADI-2 Pro FSR (BE) continues to read 3dB lower than total mix main out when connected to UFX via AES or Optical.

When I disconnect the UFX from the computer and disconnect the ADI from the UFX, and then connect the ADI directly to computer via USB, Main OUtput Horizontal meters on ADI read accurate levels again.

Let me know if you need further description to assist in troubleshooting.

Set the level meters to Dual mode so we know input and output levels. Also can you try to set Clock to AES input and disable the SRC?

Re: ADI-2 Pro FSR UFL Levels Not Matching Totalmix

Setting the SRC to off or setting it to SPDIF solved the metering issue. Dual mode meters now matching. Total mix and hardware meters are also all matching with the ADI.

How, if in any way, does this setting (turning off SRC) effect conversion? I'm not clear what the SRC setting does in the configuration I'm using.
