Topic: UCX II overheat & buffer size

hello

i have the UCX II
i think it overheating more than it should
i can puy my hand on it but it still very hot
and its my first interface that i need power more than only USB so maybe its should be like that and its ok
and i downloaded the last versions of driver & flashupdate

another thing is that sometimes i try to change the buffer size and it doesn't get it
and after everything except the DAW start to cracking
maybe its because the mic i use? that need power to (WA251 warm audio)

the UCX II is new open it less than week
please help me to undertand smile

Hi and welcome!
Can you please post some informations about your setup:
Win or Mac, what system version, what DAW?

UCX - FF 400 - Babyface pro - Digiface USB - ADI-2 (original)
Mac mini M1 - Macbook pro - iPad Air2

Sure
im using WIN 11 and my DAW is Cubase 12
and before the UCX i usd 2i2 so i believw that the overhead is because now we need more power for the UCX but its feels like its to much hot i believe the Temp is around 40+ cause i can put my hands on hit but its almost start to burn and its even not nice to switch the volume button because of that (for noe im little bit scared so i turn it of every night)

and there is also the other problem that i mention here
that sometimes i try to change the buffer size and it doesn't get it

Re: UCX II overheat & buffer size

Regarding the heat, I don't know if this applies equally to the UCX II, but you reminded me of a thread about the ADI-2 Pro I remembered seeing some time back:

The UCX II does run a bit warm but that should not be a problem. Here's a post with a link to UCX II temperature measurements:

Sadly none of the experienced Windows audio users is chiming in here. I only use macOS and it’s really different. Have a look to the manual, maybe you find a helpful hint there…
