Topic: Rme volume or Marantz amplifier volume?

my Rme-adi 2fs is connected to the Marantz integrated amplifier with the rca jacks. So I can use Rme as a pre-amplifier. But I wonder if it's better to use all the volume of the Rme or the Marantz. Thanks for this clarification.

Rme at 0db, adjust the Gain on the Amp

Keep in mind, you should also use the right Reference Level on your ADI-2,

When it’s too low, maybe you have to turn your amp all the way up and that’s not good.

When it’s too high than your Amp Volume Control becomes too sensitive.

Begin with the lowest reference Level on your ADI-2 and use your ears turn reference  Level higher until you hear less noise and a bit cleaner sound.

Mine is set to +19dbu.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try.

Re: Rme volume or Marantz amplifier volume?

Not all integrated amps can work with ADI-2’s highest Reference Level’s output voltage.

Here’s a way to practically determine the fitting Reference Level:

Re: Rme volume or Marantz amplifier volume?

This screenshot of Excel sheet (from my blog) might be useful for you ... contains e.g. all resulting voltages for DAC and PRO.
You also see the ranges of auto-reflevel (if no Loudness or EQ or PEQ) settings are in effect.
