Topic: Upgrades……..continue to sum or no?

Hello.
After many years of wanting to get an rme interface I finally did.
So I’m upgrading from my 002xb to the UFX iii.
My current setup is the 002xb summed to a dangerous dbox. The idea was to use all the out and spread the converter load over 8 channels opposed to 2.
With the large leap forward in tech that I’m now faced with…….does it even make sense to sum anymore.  I have to believe the converters are light years better than the 002xb has. Any thoughts.

Re: Upgrades……..continue to sum or no?

It seems you want the UFX III anyway and that you already have a summing box.

It would be a big occasion that somebody else had the same room, ears, and equipment like you to give you a precise answer.

If I were you, I would try it out on your premises.

Hi
Maybe I get you wrong, but to my knowledge analog summing should sound different ('better'?) than summing 'in the box' (DAW). So I definitely can’t see where the advantage should be to have the UFX III now, but don’t use its high quality DA and AD converters for summing …?
