Topic: High noise Fireface 802
Hi,
I hear a constant high hum noise (around 6.5Khz and above) when recording through the Mic/Line inputs of my Fireface 802 (connected to my Mac M1 Monterey) with USB. Anyone experienced that problem?
Thanks

Hi
Is it related to
- what is plugged to this inputs
- gain setting
Is it audible on the recorded file?
Is it related to the output volume on speakers or headphones?
Do you have a MacBook? If yes, does it change when you switch from power supply to battery?
Have you tried another USB cable?
How is it when the 802 is in standalone mode without connection to the computer?
Many thanks for your help!
Here are my answers to your questions.
- what is plugged to this inputs. Yes I found out that the noise is there when my telecaster and Stratocaster guitars are plugged in but not when my Juno, Gibson guitar and bass are plugged in. So it must be related to the combination of those single coil guitars and the Fireface 802.
When the Fender guitars are plugged into an amp, that noise doesn’t occur or at least not that loud.
- gain setting. Noise is louder when the input gain is higher
Is it audible on the recorded file? Yes
Is it related to the output volume on speakers or headphones? I don’t think so
Do you have a MacBook? If yes, does it change when you switch from power supply to battery? It doesn’t change anything
Have you tried another USB cable? No but I will
How is it when the 802 is in standalone mode without connection to the computer? Same thing happens.
You could try another (shorter?) guitar cable then. Or of course use a DI box.
