Topic: Madiface HDSPe

Hello,
I'm testing a used Madiface HDSPe
https://archiv.rme-audio.de/en/products … diface.php

on an iMac OS10.14.6, it is connected via a Sonnettech express card to thunderbolt as this one:
http://www.sonnettech.com/product/echoe … rbolt.html

I've installed 1.25 which should be the right one imho but had no success.
I wanted to check both 4.12 and 4.13, of course with no success.

I'm using the following other RME cards, so my system has the following drivers installed: Madiface USB, UFX+, Babyface Pro.
Any advice?
Many thanks

Re: Madiface HDSPe

Your chances are good.
Is that cable having the flash symbol on the plug ?

Re: Madiface HDSPe

See the system-report of the Mac. Click the Apple logo in the top left corner - about this mac - details
Is the Sonnet device or the RME listed under Thunderbolt ?
When the device is connected.
It should be there, otherwise it is not recognized by the computer.

Here is the link to the user manual of the Sonnet, it doesn't need a driver, should be class compliant.
https://www.sonnettech.com/support/down … tr_qsg.pdf

Sure the express card is inserted all the way into that Sonnet housing ?
Push slightly harder...?

Re: Madiface HDSPe

as it often happens, the problem was really simple: the thunderbolt cable was plugged in the iMac on the opposite side.
This is really weird as I find impossible to plug it in on the wrong side on any other device I have while it is possible to do so on the iMac...
Many thanks @waedi for the patience and exquisite availability!

Thank you for the report but I have no idea what that mean.
Was the cable itself the wrong way ?
Or has the iMac different ports and you have plugged in to the wrong socket ?
Is the Mini-display port not working and then you found the real thunderbolt-port ?

And this Sonnet box is fully working now ?
You can record and playback thru the old Madiface ?
This is good to know, there are many of these Madifaces available on the market.

Re: Madiface HDSPe

I am pretty sure he means 'turned' or 'upside down' . That can indeed happen with the DP connector.

Yes, I confirm it's working just fine.
Have it connected on my iMac for almost two weeks with zero trouble.
Have no idea which can be the future development of Thunderbolt ports in the next Macs though and I think that once the actual Thunderbolt protocol would go through a major update it would be hard finding solutions as the Sonnett HDSPe bridge.
