Topic: Optimal settings Line Out XLR and Phones Out for ADI -2 DAC

I have been using the ADI -2 DAC for about 1 year along with AKG K872 headphones and Genelec HT208B monitors.

AKG K872:
Sensitivity headphones: 112 dB SPL/V
Max. input power: 300 mW
Rated impedance: 36 Ohms

Genelec HT208B:
Maximum peak pack acoustic output per pair @ 1 m measuring distance with music material - >120 dB SPL

What Line Out XLR and Phones Out values are best for my devices?

Re: Optimal settings Line Out XLR and Phones Out for ADI -2 DAC

Simple:

Switch “On” “Auto Ref Level” for all outputs used.
Now you see the volume indicated in dBr instead of straight dB.

Bring down Genelec’s input sensitivity controls to minimum loudness (the +6 dB position) - done.

The AKG K872 ‘phones might run nicely on the IEM output.
Using the IEM out can increase dynamic range / SNR by 10 dB – if the achievable volume is high enough for your demand.
Else use the regular ‘phones output.

Auto Ref Level cares for the automatic optimum ADI-2 settings.
