Topic: Total Mix and Logic I/O utility not working

Hi all
The title says it all. Very strange - it is not consistent. But started happening after last update of my MADI card.
OS is Ventura 13.5.1 - RME driver 4.24, Totalmix 1.83.
Before updating my card and driver there was a good long while since it had been updated.

Totalmix is working with other DAWS (Harrison Mixbus).

Any suggestions?

Kind regards
Reidar

Re: Total Mix and Logic I/O utility not working

To me the title says almost nothing.
What exactly is not working ?
Recording from the interface is not arriving in Logic ?
Playing from Logic doesn't reach the interface ?
Is the interface not available in Logic ?

Check in Mac :
system preferences - security & privacy - Microphone : Is Totalmix on the list and enabled ? It should.

Re: Total Mix and Logic I/O utility not working

Thought I was clear - sorry.
This is a MADI card.
In/Out utility in Logic does not work. That means no hardware can be routed into Logic - or from Logic to HW via TotalMix.
Logic recognizes the card.
In/Out utility in Harrison Mixbus works.

I do not have Totalmix as an option in the SystemPref/Security/Microphone tab - only Logic and Harrison.

Re: Total Mix and Logic I/O utility not working

I have reinstalled drivers and Totalmix several times.
I do not get the question to allow RME to do things on the machine and Totalmix does not show up with the microphone.

Re: Total Mix and Logic I/O utility not working

What ?
Totalmix is not in the Microphone list but you can use it for recording in a DAW ?
Try to select the interface in the MacOS system preferences - audio - for audio device.
If you select system audio device in Logic it may work...?
You have done a cold reboot of the computer after driver installation ?
Not a normal reboot, shut down complete and reboot after a few moments.

Re: Total Mix and Logic I/O utility not working

Yes it seems so - even if it is supposed to not work, I have read now - thanks for helping BTW.

This has just worked the last couple of years even though I have upgraded OS´s when they arrive.
Have just mixed with Mixbus and recorded elsewhere - that is why I never knew Logic was not working properly.
Just to sum up:
I have deleted RME drivers and Totalmix - and reinstalled many times. Cold booting more than once.
I do get a question about getting access to files and disk volumes. I do not get the question in Security about allowing RME to do changes.
Logic uses the MADI card as main card - OS also recognizes the card and I am able to rename Madi Channels in there.

As I mentioned in my first post - yesterday it worked after many tries - when I started the machine today it did not.

My OS is not the latest but fairly new.
A month ago I did a clean install of Ventura because of other programs not working properly - but I installed RME/Totalmix from a TimeMachine copy that I had taken - not to loose all settings in Totalmix.
Maybe in there is the problem?
It would be good to know that it all worked as it should..

Kind regards
Reidar

Re: Total Mix and Logic I/O utility not working

The settings of Totalmix should be saved as a workspace.
This is a file you can import where ever you want.
You can do a test : create a new user account in MacOS and see if there is a difference ?
Did you use the exact same user name in the previous MacOS installation from where you imported RME via timeMachine ?
If the username was different, use this old name for the new test account.

?? So you are on Ventura?

Strange...

It seems to be rather a Logic/or mcOS Problem than a Totalmix or a user account problem.
If i got it right, in general you receive input audio from your "MADI card"?
Which Card do have exactly?
your "MADI card" is selected ass Input Device in Logics Audio Settings?

What if you create a Audio Track in Logic and assign the Inputs "directly" from your "MADI card" (without the external Instrument "I/O utility" from Logic?
And if using the I/O utility - are you sure, that you have assigned an Audio Input in it?
- Not like in the picture in this link (there is no input selected):

Re: Total Mix and Logic I/O utility not working

@waedi: I did use the same name when importing - remember TM asking me if that was correct.
@maggie33: My card is the HDSPe MADI, Yes Ventura, the card shows up everywhere and works with other DAWs on the same machine.
I agree with you that it is not Totalmix that is the problem.

Anyway: I will probably do a clean install of the OS again - and not put any files from earlier TM copies in. I have saved the files I need on EXT discs now.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Total Mix and Logic I/O utility not working

Would help if you could answer my questions:

What if you create a Audio Track in Logic and assign the Inputs "directly" from your "MADI card" (without the external Instrument "I/O utility" from Logic?
And if using the I/O utility - are you sure, that you have assigned an Audio Input in it?

Re: Total Mix and Logic I/O utility not working

It seems all inputs work directly into Logic from the card. Recording is possible.
And yes - I have assigned as I should in the I/O utility.

Can you post a screenshot? Maybe you overlooked something?

Re: Total Mix and Logic I/O utility not working

I accord to oli77sch. You surely have overlooked sth. A screenshot would make it easier for us to help...

Your prevoius post:

That means no hardware can be routed into Logic - or from Logic to HW via TotalMix.

Your last post:

It seems all inputs work directly into Logic from the card. Recording is possible.

Putting this together: I assume, you have set now the according Inputs and Outputs in the I//O utility... thats why you can record now?

If so, i am pretty sure, you forgot to set the Dry/Wet Slider to Wet  in I/O Utility.
