Topic: Chaining midi gear

Hi there,
I want to connect my midi instruments to ufx III. Everything has midi in and out. No thru. What is the optimal chaining of electronic drum module, bass sequencer and one or two midi keyboards? As a drummer I need to have my mimic pro (drums) and tb 3 (bass) close while playing. Keyboard is near computer and interface. Do I need some kind of midi patchbay to play and record (midi and audio) everything simultaneously with my band? Or just daisy chain them with midi cables? In what order if it matters?
Thanks

Re: Chaining midi gear

A Midi Merger can help you out.

Unfortunately it's not very cheap.

Re: Chaining midi gear

When you say no thru have you checked they don’t have a soft thru? Instruments used to have three midi ports but most just have two (actually a lot have just one) I know the ones I have do have soft thru and can be daisy chained.

Babyface Pro Fs, Behringer ADA8200, win 10/11 PCs, Cubase/Wavelab, Adam A7X monitors.

Re: Chaining midi gear

Tb 3 may have soft midi thru but Im not sure if mimic has. If everything had midi thu I wouldn’t need patchbay? Everything can be daisy chained? Tb 3 also has usb which can transmit midi and audio but judging from many opinions Im not sure if its rock solid solution. I want to place permanent cables from these two gears to my interface.
Many thanks for answers.
