Topic: Question about ADI-2 DAC FS switch functionality

Hello!
I'm considering getting a ADI-2 DAC FS for my home setup. I'm looking for a quite simple functionality, but that seems surprisingly hard to get.
I want an audio interface with a good headphone amp, and importantly:
- I need there to be a simple way to switch between headphones and speakers (muting the other one).

For you ADI-2 DAC FS owners out there, is this easy to do? Ideally one click on a button.

In my main studio I have a Grace 905 which does this with an elegant press on the main volume button. But on so many interfaces/controllers this is much more tricky and involves resetting your volume settings every time.

Thankful for advice!

Rasmus

Re: Question about ADI-2 DAC FS switch functionality

Hi Rasmus,

that's easily possible for all products of the ADI-2 DAC/Pro and ADI-2/4 Pro SE series.

Check the manual for the remap key functionality.

Here is a configuration example from this blog article, that I wrote a while ago: https://www.tonstudio-forum.de/blog/Ent … our-Setup/

There I am remapping the keys according to my taste / demand, see this diagram:

https://www.tonstudio-forum.de/attachment/2805-rme-adi-2-pro-ae-dac-integration-into-your-setup-v6-jpg/

Benefits:
- the original function of the key is still there, you only need to press it a little bit longer
makes sense, since the operational remapped function is being used more often
after the configuration of the device has been performed
- when switching between headphones and monitors by using the remapped "I/O" front button
there is a volume ramp-up of around 1 or 2 seconds (don't remember exactly)
which protects your ear, if something should become too loud, then you can quickly turn the volume knob
or remove headphones from your ear

Additional benefits / features:
- you can also lock the volume if needed

You're welcome.

Should you need more optical inputs, switchable, check this product.
Only the MK II version supports 192 kHz well.

I use it for the ADI-2 Pro FS R BE in front of my HiFi to perform D/A conversion for TV, BluRay Player and Music from PC via ADAT cable (coming from an UFX III).

See this picture from this blog article: https://www.tonstudio-forum.de/blog/Ent … ses-EN-DE/

If you require analog inputs, go "Pro" version (ADI-2 Pro FS R BE), it offer also other advantage, see the blog article (URL above).

With the ADI-2/4 Pro SE even an input for turntable is integrated performing also RIAA decoding (besides other things, optimizations).
