i have the HarmonicDyne Zeus Elite headsett and i have the Yanyin Canon II IEM and it all on balansed cables 4,4mm , will i bee able to run this balansed on the ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition with y split cable in balansed with this and can it do low power for IEM on y-split cable balansed with this one or do i have to go for the ADI-2 Pro SE edition ???

i see the RME-ADI-2-DAC-FS is not balansed..

Re: ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition

The balanced ‘phones option is supported by ADI-2 Pro, using special made adapters.

These adapters, to my knowledge, are not commonly available.
See manual page 47.
Technicians at stores for pro audio / music equipment can make them, or you can solder maybe.
It’s not rocket science.

ADI-2 Pro does not have the additional low power amp for highly sensitive IEMs, so you might need a passive attenuator for IEMs in case the very low self noise of ADI-2 Pro becomes audible.
These attenuators are readily and inexpensively available.

ADI-2/4 Pro SE has a balanced 4.4 mm Pentacon output, so you might consider this model too.

Re: ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition

ok thx for help .. im a bit new to this , i have 6.3mm y-split cable to 4,4mm balansed cable and i have 6.3mm y-split cable to balanced XLR 4-core for my hp , and i can not put the adi-2 pro to low gain if i go balansed with y-split cable (adapter)
but could you help me find out if I can use these iem  https://www.linsoul.com/products/yanyin … 550fda7455     on the adi-2 pro with y-split cable balanced or do I have to run them on low gain? and what can happen if I run highly sensitive IEMs, would I blow them up?? and is there any different in sound between balanced and not balansed ? sorry my explanation is so bad . and sry when i say low power i ment low gain , i think

Re: ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition

ADI-2 Pro’s pinout for balanced headphones is NOT the same as for Mytek Brooklyn DAC / Manhattan DAC,

TEAC UD-503 and UD-505, DO USE the same pinout as ADI-2 Pro,

infos that can help to find fitting balanced headphones adapters.

Here’s one offer, explicitly made for RME ADI-2 Pro.

Looking at ADI-2 and practical listening levels - not at all from the amp side!

But:
Yes, and the only reason for a difference is the cable architecture:

Single ended often uses 3-wire-only cables, sharing one wire as common ground.
The internal resistance of this wire causes a significant, audible increase in stereo spread due to inverted signal crosstalk between left and right side.

If, for single ended, a 4-wire cable is used like it‘s mandatory for balanced, on ADI-2 there‘s absolutely no difference in signal quality.
Just much more excess power, that stays unused.

The IEMs you linked uses 4-wire cable, as can be seen in the picture.

Run them single ended with ADI-2’s “Lo Power” setting and you’re fine.

Yes, of course, ADI-2 is very powerfull, and it’s up to 4 times more likely balanced than single ended, as balanced has up to 4 times the power.

But you can limit the power with the above mentioned “Lo Power” setting, then you’re safe.

It's not. Mytek has both channels (+ or -) on one jack, RME has each channel (+ and -) on a separate jack (don't know about TEAC, though). There are adapters on AliExpress that can be had for $15−20, but honestly I don't see any point in using balanced output with sensitive IEMs. Even with the HD6XX there is plenty of headroom, even with EQ. I did buy an adapter just to test the balanced output, and it works great, but I hardly ever use it since.

Well, this description says exactly what I meant: positive ends of both channels are on one jack and negative ends are on the other wink

Re: ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition

My bad:
It‘s true, Mytek balanced pinout is different to RME balanced, so my posting is misleading and I will edit and change it accordingly.

Sorry!

Re: ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition

Indeed, I must have had the wrong glasses on. I had read differently before. But not owning Mytek, and their manuals not having any pinout information...
