Topic: Static noise on right (R) headphone channel of RME Fireface UCX II

Hi,

There's static noise on the right (R) headphone channel of my RME Fireface UCX II.

  • Left headphone channel has no noise

  • Level setting affects volume of right channel noise

  • Issue occurs with TRS plug (noise on right headphone speaker) or TS plug if nudged to connect to right channel (noise on both headphone speakers)

  • Audio of the noise:https://we.tl/t-TeCfQfSllV (Link expires December 20, 2023)

  • Issue still occurring after installing newest driver and flash update

  • Is there a way for me to repair this or do I have to get a replacement?

How did you record this ?
With cable loopback or with Totalmix-Loopback ?

A broken cable can produce exactly such noise.
If the unit itself produce this, then a repair may take place.

I've recorded it with a cable loopback from the headphones socket to Mic/Line 1.
A TotalMix loopback does not produce noise.

The noise persists with any cable, headphone and/or adapter combination, yet only on the right channel.

Thank you for your reply.

In my eyes you did the exact right tests to see the issue is caused by the UCX II hardware. It’s not appearing with Totalmix loopback but always with any cable.

UCX - FF 400 - Babyface pro - Digiface USB - ADI-2 (original)
Mac mini M1 - Macbook pro - iPad Air2
