Topic: Process for setting gain on active monitors with ADI-2 DAC FS

Is there a 'correct' procedure for setting the gain on active monitors / subwoofers relative to the volume level on the DAC?

e.g. starting with the ADI-2 DAC FS volume set at lowest setting, and the active monitors at lowest level, then doing steps A, B C etc. on either the DAC or the monitors, to get the correct settings?

Simple:

ADI-2 DAC has a lot of output level capability, so it never runs out of steam.
Most cases the monitors have to be set to their low-most sensitivity.

• SETUP / Settings / Auto Ref Level: On
• Set ADI-2’d Volume to -20 dBr and play some typical music
• Set main monitor’s sensitivity controls to your “normal” listening level.

Quite often monitors are still too loud in their minimum setting.
