I sent this message to tech support here in the US, but I figured I'd ask here to see if anyone has experienced something similar:

I normally use my Babyface Pro FS with an apple. I installed the drivers on my Windows machine, unplugged the cable from the Babyface from my powered USB hub, and when plugging it into my USB port on the windows machine, there was a loud pop and a visible arc over by the RME unit.

It scared the heck out of me, but after a minute I tried plugging it in to the Windows machine again and it worked fine. I unplugged and replugged it in at the unit as well. I noticed that when replugging into the unit, there is some arcing between the plug and the USB jack on the unit. I'm currently listening to system audio through it, and everything seems OK.

Has anyone encountered this? It was a LOUD pop, and I was sure the unit would be fried.
