Topic: UFX+ Mixed Sample Rates, SPDIF/AES

I‘m running my UFX+ with 48k sample rate. I connect an old E-MU Proteus 2000 Rompler via it‘s SPDIF coax/RCA out (set internally to AES Pro) to the XLR AES in on the IFX+, the PCIe Settings window  (Input AES) shows the sample rate 44,1k and intermittently Lock and Sync, the LED is blinking, sometimes I hear crackles, sometimes it works.
Tested to set the UFX+ sample rate to 44,1k and Clock Source to AES, still crackles…

I made a DIY cable (cinch to male XLR) as shown in the UFX+ manual.

My questions:
1. is it generally okay to run 44,1k AES input along 48k inthe UFX+?
2. would a spdif to AES converter solve my problem
3. could my self made (microphone) cable be the problem?

My Computer system is M1 MacBook Pro with latest Sonoma and Logic Pro and Ableton Live.

UFX+, MacBook Pro 2015, High Sierra, Ableton Live 10, Push 2.

Re: UFX+ Mixed Sample Rates, SPDIF/AES

Hi
Both units have to be set to the same sample rate. One has to be clock master, the other slaved to it.

+1

and to expand, a bit, on what Oli said, you should set 'Clock Source' to "AES In" in the FireFace Settings.
If the E-mu had a digital Input, you could have connected that to the AES Out of the UFX+ and it could, then, have been properly clocked.
