Topic: Does the original Multiface have DC-coupled outputs?
I don't have a multimeter handy and am wondering if I'll be able to run MOTU's Volta.
I'm thinking it doesn't, but wasn't sure.
cheers

None of our units have DC-coupled outputs.
Just out of curiosity, what's the difference, then, between a "DC-coupled output", as described in the link as a requirement for Volta and sending CV out, and say, the FF400's Output DA described as a "DC-coupled signal path" ?
(thanks for the quick reply!)
Exactly that. The whole signal path after the DAC is DC-coupled except for one big capacitor at the output jack. Removing this one is possible, but will still not give you the ability to generate DC voltages.
what is the deal with this?
This interview with the developer of MOTU's Volta plugin states that it is compatible with the RME Fireface.

But I don't understand how the FF could send out a steady DC offset voltage. its ok for envelpoes and LFOs, but it doesnt seem to able to play a steady pitch. the voltage always tapers back to zero. Is there a way to compensate for this? is that what Volta's "calibration feature" does?
It would be so good if this plugin/concept worked with the Fireface.....
Well, I guess everything works except for putting out a constant (DC) voltage...
But I just realized I forgot the headphone outputs. The phones out from FF 400 , Digiface, Multiface (not II) and HDSP9632 are all DC-coupled, without capacitor at the output jack. So you can easily try it with your MF.
Units with pot (MF II and FF 800) do have one capacitor before the pot.
Is it right that the ADI 8 DS will work with Voltra?
My ADI 8 DS is from the Year 2000
No, all DS have caps in their outputs.

Is this also true for the AEB-8O?
No, caps after the DAC and at the output.
