Topic: Adi 2 FS + UC + Ultragain 8200

Hello !

Just bough a Adi 2 FS to upgrade my fireface UC . i plugged it via x2 SPDIF Rca coaxial and set clock source in totalmix spdif in. My question is more about connecting the ultragain now by Adat. Should i go into the Adi 2 FS or my UC ? Best will be to use converter from ADI and got all tracks on total mix ... i"m a bit lost with possible connexions

Something i have in mind  :
ADA8200 ( adat out) >> ADI 2FS ( adat in) >> ADI 2FS (adat out) >> UC (adat in) >> total mix ADAT 1/2, 3/4...

this can be possible with world clock cable  i guess ?

Second question :

When i hold the level button from analog output of the adi 2 FS i can as say the manual set the volume output of my speaker but is there a way to not affect the headphones too ? the idea will be to turn down speaker and listen only headphones... when i use this function it affect speakers and headphones ....

thanks you !

Re: Adi 2 FS + UC + Ultragain 8200

• Use Fireface UC as central unit and master clock, to control everything with Totalmix.
ADI-2 FS and Ultragain 8200 will become clock slave.

• Connect Fireface UC’s Coax In/Out to ADI-2 FS.
• Set ADI-2 FS DIG IN and CLOCK to: “Coax”.

• Connect Fireface UC’s ADAT In/Out to Ultragain 8200.
• Set Ultragain‘s Sync Switch to ADAT.

Monitors / Headphone volume, see manual page 7 for the options.
• Buy Mackie Big Knob Passive.
• Connect ADI-2 FS’s Line Out to Big Knob.
• Connect Monitors to Big Knob, to control their volume.
• Set ADI-2 FS‘s Line Out to fixed level (manual page 7, chapter 6.4)
• Plug headphones to ADI-2 FS.

Re: Adi 2 FS + UC + Ultragain 8200

...or simply use the headphone output of the UC ?

M1-Sonoma, Madiface Pro, Digiface USB, Babyface silver and blue

Re: Adi 2 FS + UC + Ultragain 8200

i think or may be it's placebo that the ADI heaphones is much better no ?

Re: Adi 2 FS + UC + Ultragain 8200

Thanks a lot for clear answer ! yes that's what i did actually , just need to change clock . So it's not worth/possible to use the A/D from ADI if i understand.
thanks again

For the control knob i'm thinking more about a palmer monicon , i need XLR in/out

Ps : when i set clock to internal , both leds on UC and ADI are flashing . i used to set clock to spdif

Re: Adi 2 FS + UC + Ultragain 8200

Of course you can use the ADI for AD as well.
If the UC is supposed to be clock master, the other units will have to be connected both ways and set to external sync.

I did not suggest to do that.

Correct clock setting is essential for functionality.

In a digital audio system only one device can be clock master (clock = internal)
All others need to be clock slave (clock = external)

This way all devices run synced to the same clock.

Else the system doesn’t work or you encounter constant clicks and jumps from dropped audio samples.

Practically it’s simple, just follow my instructions:

Yes i meant clock source from fireface usb settings software was " internal clock" and made constant flash, now it's on spdif in and works with ada8200 plugged on Adat in/out .
thanks

i tried   ADA8200 adat out >> ADI adat In >> ADI adat out >> UC adat in >> UC adat out >> ADA8200 adat in
not working

ps : sorry for report i missed click lol

It‘s all here, I layed it out step by step:

Of course not, you can’t run ADAT “through” ADI-2 and make each device pick the channels you intend it to.

ok thank you !
