Topic: Reamp UCX II

I am having a problem routing in Totalmix to reamp a dry guitar track. My physical connections are,
Output 5 of UCX II into Radial Reamp box.
Out of Reamp box into the input of the guitar head.
Out of Fractal X-Load box into Mic 1 UCX II with phantom power turned on.

My tracks in Cubase are,
DI Track output set to Output 5
New track to record processed Guitar - set to Input 1.

I am hearing the Dry Di Track but not the Amps Processed sound.

Re: Reamp UCX II

First : switch off phantom power, this Fractal box has Line-Out, it's not a condenser microphone !

The photo of the matrix doesn't show the routing from Playback channel 5 to the hardware output 5 wich you have to do, because sending to output 5 from Cubase not yet send to the output 5 on the unit, it only sends to the playback channel in Totalmix from where you have to rout it to the desired hardware output.

Try this :

Re: Reamp UCX II

Thats where I am confused. I know the Reamp Box needs 48V

Re: Reamp UCX II

Holy crab you are right it is printed there !
OK then let phantom power on and click the routing in the Totalmix

Re: Reamp UCX II

Yeah, and the Radial Reamp box requires 48v as well.

Re: Reamp UCX II

That worked. Thanks!

here is the screenshot of the matrix with all working.

Re: Reamp UCX II

You can use the Mic2 of the UCX with phantom power ON for this ?
Just for powering without receiving a signal.

Re: Reamp UCX II

Its working fine now, I am not sure how the 48v is being sent to the radial box? the radial box come out of the output of the UCX into the front input of the amp. I guess the whole signal chain provides power to it??

Re: Reamp UCX II

Wich unit is this ?
I can't find one unit from these radial things that needs phantom power...?

And no, the input of the guitar amp does not provide power.

Re: Reamp UCX II

Yes, thats the one

Re: Reamp UCX II

To me it seems to not need any power at all as it is a passive DI box.
you even can skip this device and connect directly from the UCX output to the input of the amp (reduce the output level in Totalmix in this case)

But as it is working now all is fine.

Re: Reamp UCX II

The output of the reamp is Hi-Z which many amps expect.  I don’t believe the UCX can output high impedance can it?

The reamp box doesn’t need 48V though, it’s passive as you say.  Some other radial reamp boxes are combined reamp/di, and the DI side does need 48V which may be part of the confusion.
