Topic: Windows 11 Driver loading but not in Windows Settings : UCX II

Hi All. The Windows driver works in Cubase Pro 13 as Asio, but the RME driver is not appearing in the Windows Settings for me to select for general system use Youtube, media player etc.

I've uninstalled and re-installed many times, rebooting along the way..
Any tips?
I'm on the current UCX II Firmware and driver.
Total Mix works as does the RME Control panel
Device is showing RME Fireface UCX

Windows doesn't support ASIO.
You need to enable WDM devices in the driver settings for the I/O ports which you need.
Usually, only 1-2, where your monitors and headphones are connected to.
And then one TAB to the right, you select which of the two is the speaker device.
This dynamically creates device entries in Windows Sound.
There, you right-click to the RME speaker device and set it to act as the default sound interface for Windows and all the other applications (like Browser (for YouTube)) which do not support ASIO.

I know it doesn't support Asio, i've use RME for many years, but this is the first time the driver has not appeared in the list in Windows. It appears in Device manager, but it has always appeared in the sound control panel list. Because it's not there, i cannot configure it let alone select it for Windows Audio.  You mention clicking and TAB-ing, but it's not there (it is selectable in Cubase of course as ASIO) .. link below to a dropbox screenshot

I told you already that you need to enable WDM devices in the RME driver settings.
Otherwise, you do not see windows compatible devices for those selected I/O ports.

Please post a screenshot of your driver settings window...

Ah Gotcha, ok, that worked! I don't recall ever needing to set that before, maybe in the past they were selected by default.
Thank you for the help, I appreciate it!

Yes, that's the solution. Thanks @Ramses smile

Just had the same issue after fresh install on new Windows 11 system.

This issue should no longer come up as the latest driver is now 1.250 and sets 3 WDM devices as default, instead of 0.
