Topic: FF400 don't work at all (clicking, no sound) (SOLVED)

Hi everybody, i hope someone can help me.

Last night i was tryin to upload the driver\flash because of some clicking problem while reproducing audio and also while recording, some day after, when i switch on the computer, the audio interface (FF400) started to not reproduce any sound only clicking.

Total mix show me that the 8 Input are green, like some sound is coming...but all the jack are unplugged, so it's quite impossibile unless i have an hardware problem.

I saw many post about this problem: Failed with error D000000 and Mismatch problem.

- I tryed to run it with external fireware hd,
- i tryed to run with an old mac os 10.7.5
- I tryed to downgrade the driver to an old one.
- I tryed to change the A\C
- i Tryed to use the audio interface with 2 different mac.

NOTHING CHANGE! Still buzzin and no sound comes out....it's really frustating.

I'm trying to understand if this is a Software problem or an Hardware problem...can someone help me?

!!!!! (SOLVED BY RE-INSTALLING ALL ON AN OLD MAC) !!!!!!

I would try the FUT again many times until it is successful.

yes, using the old mac! Hopefully only one try is needed…

FUT = Flash Update Tool = firmware updater for the Fireface 400
Do you have the RME firewire driver on your old Mac (with OS X 10.7.5)? If no, install it first. Then also load the FUT to this Mac and try to flash the Fireface 400 from there.
Read careful all descriptions while choosing the installer download on the RME site, there are different versions for different OS X and Mac hardware systems.
As far I can see it should be:
Driver v3.06 from 2012-01-19 compatible to 10.5, 10.6, 10.7
FUT for firmware v1.71 from 2012-05-22

Ok guys i’ve already tryed but it send me the same message.
i will do it again, in my old mac i was already using the fireface so yes i’ve already installed the driver…i will try to eliminate the app i have on this mac and try to download again.

This is really strange to me…never had a problem in 13 year since now…

From your screenshot with signals on all inputs without anything connected, I would say the unit is broke.
But as long you have error in flash update the first thing to try is to fix the fut.
If this not works the unit should go to repair.

SOLVED!

I downloaded the driver and FUT on the old mac (10.7.5) eliminate the old one, re-installed, and magically work....now i am v1.71.
