Topic: [Solved] UFX III, problem with MIDI IN

Hi everyone,

I have found that my MIDI IN 2 doesn't work. I have Kurzweil and Nord keys with MIDI connection. When I connect any of them to MIDI IN 1 - RME receives the signal (I can see yellow led on the control panel). When I connect to MIDI IN 2 - it doesn't receives any signal. I've checked with different MIDID leads. Both MIDI OUTs work perfectly. I bought my UFX III in may 2023, so it's still on the warranty. However, the nearest accredited company is in another city, so it's a long and complicated process. So, before I contact them I want to be sure that it's a hardware fault, not a software's or my stupidity problem. Thanks a lot.

Download Miditools from Mountain utilities. Loop a midi cable from midi in to midi out and play some notes on the virtual keyboard, when you watch the midi out and midi in monitor and teh midi LED's on the device. Then you can check the ports.

@Audio AG: is the installer for this tool safe?

Wondering about these two Virustotal results: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/818 … a88ceaad3a

Thanks again, the mountain utilities tools shows that both MIDI 1 and MIDI 2 work. Now I'm really puzzled. What can affect MIDI transmission? I have Kurzweil and Nord keys. Both have MIDI USB and traditional midi connections. I don't have any problem connecting Kurzweil with Nord through their MIDI In/Out. However, as soon as I try to use them under ProTools using UFX MIDI - I get problems.

PROBLEM RESOLVED!

Thanks for helping out, especially @Audio AG Support for the link to the MIDI tool.

The problem was with MIDI cables. I tested RME INs and Outs with a short MIDI cable, which I don't usually use, as it's too short to get from the rack with RME to the stand with my keyboards. It turned out that all my longer MIDI cables work for getting signal out of RME MIDI ports, but don't work to get signal into the RME ports. At the same time, they work to connect my synths directly to each other. Seems that the problem with how these 5 pin DIN connectors are solded. I just need to find the quality MIDI cables.
