Hello,
i have an RME Fireface 802 USB PC in Win11. I want to use 2 Optical 5.1 Sound as Input can i use for this ADAT 1 und ADAT 2 as Input?
Right now only ADAT2 takes the input. For Example i want to use Playstation Optical Out to RME ADAT Input.
In the FireFace USB Settings i can see only one input, why ?
I need to select AES Input. There is only one Channel Input ?
What are the two ADAT then for ?
Adat signal protocol is 8 channels input and 8 channels output at up to 48kHz sample rate.
AES is a stereo channel input or output, 2 XLR connectors.
The optical port can be either Adat or SPDIF.
SPDIF is only a stereo channel but up to 192kHz.
The optical out of the Playstation is probably a stereo SPDIF
In the Fireface Settings Dialog what is set for the optical connectors ? Adat or SPDIF ?
If the Playstation sends a 5.1 surround sound format out of the optical out, the fireface is not able to decode and splitt those channels.
This needs a Surround receiver.
This is my Setting:
Stereo is for me enough.
But i have another Device with SPDIF Optical too. My Question is:
Can i use the second SPDIF on another ADAT ?
on the RME site it shows, that it only have 1x AES ist that right ?
The Spdif works only via AES for me.

yes but it has two adats why they are not SPDIF ?

You want to connect two devices that have SPDIF optical.
Make clock source external optical not AES

With a Fireface 802 FS - yes. You seem to have an older 802 - then no.

yes i have the normal firecface 802. so now i understand it is not possible i bought me an Toslink Splitter.
