Topic: Help me find a controller for UCX II standalone

I'm using my UCX II in standalone mode and I want to control the level of the analog inputs.
I'm using the 8 inputs as 4 stereo channels.
In TMFX I have the 4 'AN X/X' faders, but in standalone mode, when using the on-board interface, there's no option to control the left and right levels together (I need to adjust each side separately).
I'm looking for a compact controller, preferably with 4 faders and a few knobs (only knobs can work as well), that can help me with this.
I'm currently using an iPad with TotalMix, but I really don't like using the touch screen. I thought about the FaderFox EC4, but it doesn't support the Mackie protocol.
Any recommendations?

Small subnotebook with a mouse?
Then usual connection per USB or by using TotalMix Remote, depending on whether you have LAN or Wireless on the location?

Thanks, ramses.
It's a possibility, but I'd much prefer physical knobs or faders.
I do field recordings so no access to networks most of the time...
The on-board controls would've been ideal, but unfortunately it isn't possible.

Re: Help me find a controller for UCX II standalone

Maybe Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol F1 might work. It is for DJing, but has 4 faders, 4 knobs, and 16 buttons.

Or if touchstripe fader would do, there used to be controller by Steinberg.

Generally, have a look at tools for DJs, they often work with four "decks" (stereo tracks).

And, you do not, IMHO, need controller that supports MACKIE protocol, MIDI should work as well.

Thanks for the suggestions, Kubrak.
MIDI does work for some functions, but unfortunately level/fader control requires the Mackie protocol.

Re: Help me find a controller for UCX II standalone

Mackie Protocol enabling is part of Fireface Settings Dialog ?
This is the driver settings and I think it will not be part of standalone mode,
You may buy a Behringer X-touch with send back option in case it doesn't work.

Thank you, waedi.
I know that RME tested the Behringer BCR200 and it does work in standalone, but obviously it isn't compact and quite heavy.
I'll take a look at the X-Touch controllers (though I'd be happy to avoid Behringer if there are other options, honestly).

Still looking....
If anyone has more suggestions

Thanks smile

Re: Help me find a controller for UCX II standalone

You can use the ARC USB also directly connected to the Durec USB port for standalone use.
From the user manual :
Connector for USB stick or USB hard drive. Offers direct recording to / play-
back from the external memory device. Alternatively connector for the optional Advanced Remote
Control USB (ARC USB) when the UCX II is used in stand-alone and Class Compliant mode. This
port can also be used instead of connecting the ARC USB to the computer.

@MC
There is a small mistake in the user manual UCXll
On page 4 it says the ARC Options are on page 53, but they are on page 51 !

Really?
That'd be very nice, but I thought the ARC USB cannot control individual channels' levels in standalone mode...
I'll have to read the ARC's manual again.
Thanks

Even worse: it said UFX III, and the whole chapter was missing in the German version. All fixed - thanks.

Re: Help me find a controller for UCX II standalone

Bumping my thread for more suggestions smile

@MC
Here's a feature request for the UCX II:
Open the device for full MIDI control in standalone mode, without the need for the Mackie protocol.
Or, expand the ARC USB's functionality for standalone.
