Topic: [solved] Kernel Panic starting Fireface USB drivers on MacbookPro

I'm totally desperated, I have a gig in one week and my Fireface is not working.

Everything worked fine during weeks until suddenly the drivers started crashing, I tried to re-install everything but still I'm facing a kernel panic problem when starting the computer. I'm keeping it to the Kernel Extensions ( Even if i also tried the Driver Kit ).

Could someone help me please?

## My setup:
- Soundcard:RME Fireface UC , firmware 138 ( latest )
- Soundcard drivers: Trying to install Fireface USB 331
- Machine: MacBook Pro M2
- MacOs: Sonoma

Unclear what you did.
Trying 331 ? Did you install ? Did the install fail ?
You tried the driver-kit driver, with what results ? Did it not work ? What version was this ? Is this driver available on the product page ?
What I would try: installing the 410 driver from the UCXll product page

Make sure the UC is still ok and works with a different computer. Can you boot with the UC disconnected? Then connect it after boot?

Thanks both for your answers.
I tried every possible combinaction, with and without connecting the unit.
I tried to install kernel extension driver, and driver kit.
I even try to do extensive cleaning like this before trying again:

rm -rf /Applications/Totalmix.app;
rm -rf /Applications/Fireface USB Mixer;
rm -rf /Applications/Fireface USB Settings;
sudo rm -rf /Library/Extensions/RMEFirefaceUSB.kext;
rm -rf /Users/javi/Library/Preferences/Fireface USB Folder;
rm -rf /Users/javi/Library/Preferences/de.rme-audio.FirefaceUSBMixer.plist;
rm -rf /Users/javi/Library/Preferences/de.rme-audio.TotalmixFX.plist;
rm -rf /Users/javi/Library/Preferences/de.rme-audio.Fireface_USB_Settings.plist;
rm -rf /Library/LaunchAgents/de.rme-audio.firefaceUSBAgent.plist;

And like manually deleting the extensions like this:

go to recovery mode and
csrutil disable
Then go to 
sudo rm -rf /Library/StagedExtensions/Library/Extensions/RME.... 

systemextensionsctl list
systemextensionsctl uninstall 67AK2U2X7M de.rme-audio.dkusb

Then at some point remember to csrutil enable

Another think I noticed is:
- When I install de kernel extension, after rebooting I get this kernel panic message ( If i reboot with uc not connected, kernel panic is not appearing, but if I connected afterwards still the fireface is not recogniced )
- When I install de driver kit usb, no kernel panic, but still fireface is not recognice in my sound preferences
- In both scenarios, if I try to launch the "Fireface Usb Settings" the computer crashes

# Several questions

1. I don't have other computer to try my soundcard with. If necessary will try to borrow from a friend or whatever, but is there a way to check if interface is with a problem? ( I launch the RME Flash Tool.. and everything appears right, firmware 138 ).

2. Also, I read this in the documentation "Start TotalMix and the Settings dialog from the Applications folder." or like this "If the button does not immediately disappear, please manually start the RME driver settings Window and TotalMix FX and the press "Allow" again." . But can not find this RME DRIVER SETTINGS ? What's this?

3. I tried to install with UC connected, and UC not connected. Does it matter?

Driver settings = the program Fireface Settings in the applications folder.
Sorry for this question : sure the device is set to Apple-mode not to Windows Pc - mode ?

THAT WAS IT.
I had the fireface in WIN mode ( i didn't know that this even existed, i must have swicthed from AP to WIN mode without noticing it ), i switched back to AP mode ( Doing the quick double click on the knob and reboot, and "Voila!" ).

I really need to thank you for your work, and the quality support of this brand. RME forever

Hi!
Now I'm experiencing the bit crushing problem ( https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.ph … 64&p=5 , https://www.forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.php?id=27426 .. ).
I will read all of those threads to see what I can do..

[update] In case someone is interested, key to solve this issue ( at least for now ) has been selecting in Fireface USB Settings sample rate 44100 and selecting clock source to internal ( for some reason by default it was on "world clock" )
