Topic: [Solved] can't hear sound from computer other than daw

Hi! I'm a new Totalmix user. I can hear and route the audio from my daw without any problem
but the audio from the rest of the applications or from browser (Youtube etc...) plays through my computer speakers and not through my monitors or headphones. when I play music from YouTube I don't even see it in totalmix so I can't try and route it.
I chose my rme ucx as the audio source in the "audio midi setup" but still doesn't work.
I don't necessarily want to record the audio from the browser, only to be able to hear it through the audio interface. I am using a Macbook pro m1.
thanks for any help!

Please check in the MacOS system preferences - Security&Privacy - Microphone
Is Totalmix listed and enabled ?

You have to select the UCX either in system preferences - audio, or simply using the audio settings in the macOS menu bar.
In Audio/MIDI setup app, clicking on the device in the list doesn’t select it as system audio hardware.

hi thanks! yes I just needed to select it as the input and output in the "Sound" page in the prefereneces.

Ok! BTW it's indeed also possible in the Audio/MIDI setup: highlight the UCX in the list, then click on the wheel on the bottom (or do a right click) to open the menu with the option to select it for audio in / out.
