Topic: Babyface Pro and new Driver Kit install

Hello,
I watched videos, read here, read the Driver Kit read me files, but sorry I'm still confused.
Can someone confirm the order of the process :
- Driver first then firmware ?

Or the contrary ?

TIA
Philippe

Re: Babyface Pro and new Driver Kit install

Hi
The Babyface pro is ready for 'driverkit' drivers, even when it’s not on newest firmware. So install the driver first, then check the firmware version. It shows up in 'Fireface settings app'. Or you can simply load the FUT (after driver installation) and run it to see if there is a firmware update or not.

Re: Babyface Pro and new Driver Kit install

This is an overview
https://rme-audio.de/macos-usb-drivers.html

This is the latest driverkit driver from the usual download link ...
https://rme-audio.de/downloads/driver_usbdk_mac_410.zip

You have to read the README file in the driverkit driver ZIP archive: Readme Fireface DK USB.rtf

For you of interest is already the 1st chapter:

Important notes on installation

1. Firmware version for DriverKit

Attention: Fireface UFX / UCX / UC / 802 and Babyface require a firmware update to versions UFX: 361, UCX: 49, UC: 127, 802 : 17 (111), Babyface: 226 , or higher, to enable the use of this DriverKit driver.
Link to firmware update tool:
https://www.rme-audio.de/downloads/fut_usb_mac.zip

While the firmware update tool would run on M1/2 machines, it needs a working driver. But the driver is not loaded if the firmware is not updated. So the interface firmware must be updated first, using a computer that runs the Kernel Extension driver, or a Windows computer.

Re: Babyface Pro and new Driver Kit install

Updating firmware always requires a driver. There's no need to update the BF Pro with the older driver in order to install 4.x
