Topic: RME UCX 2 / Focusrite clarett 8 pre ADAT

Hi,

So i tried to connect a focusrite clarett 8 pre in ADAT to use its preamps.
I d like to use my RME as master and the focusrite as slave. I just need more preamps from the focusrite.
So i put a toslink, in the ADAT IN of my RME to the ADAT OUT of the focusrite.
In my RME control window ADAT is sync, clock source on internal. In my focusrite control window, clock source is in ADAT but not sync.
There's is no sound coming up in my RME ADAT Channels, inputs.  Is that normal ?
Do i need to use a wordclock cable ? Do i need a special configuration in my matrix window ?

I'm lost, sorry.
I hope you can help me.

Hi
Wordclock over ADAT only works in the same direction as the audio stream. So you have to use either a second optical connection from UCX II ADAT out to Focusrite ADAT in or a word clock cable (of course also from UCX II out to Focustite in), depending on what ports the Focusrite device has.

I tried with two toslinks and nothing happened.
Do I need to change something in my RME matrix window ?

With a wordclock cable, I'm afraid the focusrite has only a wordclock out... So will it work this way ?

It should work with both in and out adats connected. The RME on internal clock and the 8pre on slave to adat. But how to set that up[ should be in the 8pre manual. I am also not sure if the 8pre automaticly routes the mic ins to the adat out. It could need some setting up but only the 8pre manual will answer that.
A quick google shows that the 8pre needs to be set up for this when connected to a computer!
