Topic: How can I get at least 16 input channels through the Babyface Pro

The Babyface Pro has a spec of 24 channels, however, since itself only has four input channels, and from a search, ADAT only supports 8 channels.  Is it possible to connect 16 channels or more inputs?  If possible, can anyone recommend how?

Hi
24 channels in and out in total, 12 per direction!
You already answered your own question:
4 analog inputs + 8 ADAT (at single speed sample rates) = 12.
The same for outputs.
That’s the maximum amount of channels you can get with the Babyface pro, 16 inputs aren't possible!

You may use a mixer and connect the stereo out of the mixer to the Babyface

I see.  I guess I misunderstood the specs because for normal mixers, the number of channels means the input channels.  I was trying to avoid a humongous device for on-the-go setups.

For mixers yes, for audio interfaces no, there it's the sum of input and output channels.
A Madiface USB with two 12Mics is a lightweight setup with 24 mic inputs.

I’ve said it before. You really have to go through the specs of anything (audio, bikes, cars) to make sure it does what you want it to do. A quick read of the highlights is not enough.

Babyface Pro Fs, Behringer ADA8200, win 10/11 PCs, Cubase/Wavelab, Adam A7X monitors.

Or if you have preamps with ADAT output, you could use Digiface USB. It has 4x ADAT in and 4x ADAT out. So, you could have up to  32 channels in if using 44/48 clock, up to 16 channels using 88/96 clock.

DF USB is a tiny box easily to carry. It almost fits to pocket.

Maybe via cascading by plugging in 16 pieces of this ones to each other?

Well, it satisfied the needs I bought it for, just starting to explore new usage possibilities.

This looks like an interesting solution.
