Topic: Fireface UFX with Digiface Dante

Hello everyone.

I’m in processes of expanding my mixing studio with Dante system.I am interested in purchasing Digiface Dante . Im using Cubase in windows mixing ITB working at 96khz. The purpose of incorporating Dante is to send and return stereo channels to a PC server used as an effects rack.

The question is: Could I use my UFX fireface for monitoring, while using Digiface Dante as main Interface (in Cubase)?

I understand for all I have read in forum than I have to select the Digiface Driver in Cubase and UFX rme speakers option in windows.

If someone can confirm that this way of working is possible I would appreciate this, or if I have to account more aspects for making this working. Thank you in advance.

Re: Fireface UFX with Digiface Dante

I'm not sure this will work as there is no reliable way of routing between windows and Dante. I have the Digiface Dante & UFX and can test when I have a moment. I have a converter I use (Ferrofish A32 Dante) however and this is an expensive piece. You could try the app below which is a way of aggregating all of your audio devices.

Re: Fireface UFX with Digiface Dante

Whether this leads to a wanted / supported setup?
The goal of an ASIO driver is to have direct access to the HW with minimum latency.
Here you have two interfaces using two different ASIO drivers.
Much better approach would be to use UFX III and MADI based setup.

Re: Fireface UFX with Digiface Dante

Hello Ramses and Sunshy, Thank you very much for the answers.

Actually I currently own the UFX and I would like to continue using it.

My purpose is to use a server PC as an effects rack, using Dante Virtual Soundcard (with a simple Ethernet port) on it, and using the VST System Link between Cubase in master pc and Cubase in slave pc.

One of the reasons I want to use Dante is because with just one Dante interface (with master clock) in master pc I can route to several  servers PCs using Audinate's Virtual Dante Soundcard.

Other reason is because with one Dante port i can route 32 I/O channel at 96khz.

So my question is if I can use the UFX to simply monitor using the Windows option of choosing the audio output device of my master pc which is located at the bottom right of the taskbar, while in Cubase I use the Digiface Dante driver, or if there is any other way to route the output signal so I can use my UFX to monitor.

I continuous research

Thank you very much in advance.

greetings

Hello Sunshy, I'm going to study the Matrix option.

Thank you very much

Re: Fireface UFX with Digiface Dante

An audio application can only load one driver, either USB or MADIface not both.
Using such additional applications like ASIO4ALL and matrix leads to an unsupported setup because you have not anymore the usual setup  .. PC - OS - driver - hardware
You have an additional application in between which does routing between several audio interfaces.
Be warned, I am pretty sure that this is a not supported setup in case you have any issue.

Re: Fireface UFX with Digiface Dante

I have friends using coconut with great success. Please keep in mind that DVS has high latency. That’s why I ended up getting the AIC card as well as the digiface dante. I also use my UFX for monitoring.

Thank you for the advise Ramses.

Thank you very much Sunshy.

My mind activity is for mixing, so latency is not a problem.

Matrix is an amazing application, It will surely be a key piece in my setup.

Now I am investigating which clock system may be the most appropriate.

Thanks a lot!
