Topic: TotalMixFX Remote on Wine

Why doesn't work?
I've tried a bunch of distro to get the remote, but it seems that wine can't open the communication port...
The software seems to work, but every time it stucks in the searching box, and the com parameters are the same that work on windows.
I am a real noob on Linux, but now I'm working with durec on my UFX and I just need a remote to control the durec away from the orchestra, then I was searching for an old computer with a free OS.

dump.
Even after the download of several ( and easy) firewall manager, there's no way to let TMFX remote becomes useful.
Probably the linux firewall managers don't work in the wine enviroment...but the linux world isn't as friendly as the win one: noobs are not admitted...

Re: TotalMixFX Remote on Wine

RME supports TotalMix FX and TotalMix Remote only under Windows and macOS.

As you might know, Wine doesn't support all windows applications under Linux.

There is a compatibility list and TotalMix Remote is one of the applications that do not work.
https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. … ;iId=20268

Either it works or it doesn't work. RME neither supports Linux nor Wine and
it is much likely that also no other RME user got it to work, therefore no answer from the forum.

The only chance might be, to ask the Wine community, whether somebody can troubleshoot and fix it.
But I have doubts that this is easily possible, as Wine e.g. doesn't support every Windows API call and other possible issues.

Re: TotalMixFX Remote on Wine

3FRS, without describing details about your environment it is nearly impossible to help you....

I am not a wine specialist, but i think its a network related problem. If i understood your setup environment right.

On which Host ist the RME interface plugged in? a Win machine? Drivers installed? TM FX Running? Network Remote enabled?
Your Linux Host is running on a seperate physical machine? Or inside a VM on the win? Both are on same network, with different ip addresses?
The selected port on host (where TM is running) is reachable via udp AND(!) tcp from your linux (where the TM Remote) is running?

Re: TotalMixFX Remote on Wine

Thank You Ramses.
It's not a big problem for me since I can easily get an old portable machine for the task.
Anyway, to reply to aes/ebu, it is a wubuntu installation, with the wine enviroment correctly installed (by default thru the .ISO) and working.
The DAW is a PC with an UFXII and I use the TMFX remote daily with android tabs (via OSCAR) and even with an old windows XP that I use to play some old sw samplers. Only the linux machine has this problem...
TY again to everybody

- I am not "aes/ebu", btw ;-)

I use the TMFX remote daily with android tabs (via OSCAR)

- OSCAR (based on OSC) is something completely different than the TotalMixFX Remote App, you mentioned in the title

- Possible, you mix different things together? Sounds quite weird for me.

Forgive me Maggie33...feel free to call me whatever you want (drongo would be most appropriate) ;°)

this is the main reason why I would like to use TMFX

No, I'm just recording a symphonic band with the Durec (UFX I) in the same place of the band, and I need a remote in the control room. No mixing no FX, just rec and stop commands (and level checks); all the files will be worked in a separate studio...

just putting your two statements together:

Let me know if you have any problems with this.

Re: TotalMixFX Remote on Wine

You're completely right M33...and I used TouchOSC a lot with my android device.
It's only matter of time if I choose to use TMFX remote in a laptop with wine.
I'll do it for the next sessions
