Topic: ARC USB Question

My apologies if this has been asked already.

I am looking to assign one of the buttons to allow me to control the instrument gain.

So I went to the Arc and Key Command settings screen and assigned the VOL PH 2 button so that when pressed the knob then controls the instrument gain on Channel 3.

It indeed changes the gain, however it will only go as high as 12. (I can raise it as high as 24 if I use my mouse)

Is this just an inherent limitation or is there a way to set this up so that it can control the whole range from 0 to 24?

Re: ARC USB Question

You may reveal what interface it is ?
Totalmix version number ?
Firmware version in the interface ?
computer OS ?
Also the firmware of the ARC itself should be up-to-date.

Interface is Fireface UCX II w/Firmware 1.224 Revision 43
Totalmix version is 1.93.
Computer OS is Windows 11

Not entire sure how to check for firmware for ARC USB, but I don't see any firmware updates since 2018 on the website? I assume it has at least that one, since I bought it new about 1.5 years ago.

Also updated the Fireface USB driver to version 1.250 Revision 43.

So everything is pretty much up-to-date at this point.

Re: ARC USB Question

Are the input settings in Totalmix exactly the same for those input channels ?
Sure you mean the input channel gain knob in Totalmix ?
I wonder why this knob is responsive to the ARC when Phones volumen is selected. Is trim-mode enabled on one of those input channels ?
A screenshot of your Totalmix would be helpful.

So there's the ability to re-assign/customize the buttons right?

So for the VOL PH 2 button,  I have re-assigned it so that when pressed, the big encoder knob will then control the instrument input gain for Channel 3. This is working...sort of. The issue is that the range is only from 0 to 12.

In Total Mix itself, the range is from 0 to 24. So if I want to raise it past 12, then I need to use my mouse instead of the encoder knob on the ACR USB since it can only go up to 12.

Did I explain that better?

Re: ARC USB Question

Thanks for the explanation.
What is selected in the ARC key settings for the Phones button ? Inst. Gain 3 + 4 or only Inst. Gain 3 ?

Re: ARC USB Question

We'll check that. Might have been overlooked after changing the gain from 12 to 24 dB some time ago.

Edit: Checked and confirmed.

OK. So it's a known limitation now.

Thanks for confirming. I will not try to troubleshoot this any further!

Re: ARC USB Question

I updated TotalMix FX to 1.97 and looks like this is now fixed. I now have control from 0 to 24. Thanks!!!
