Topic: Total Mix Routing Problems

Hello,

I am in a need of a little bit of help cause I have trouble figuring out how to Route my Signals with my Specific Setup.

For a long Time I used the RME Fireface UC without having much Problems. Later I added a Pulse 16 from Ferrofish to have some more IOs cause I am running some analog Gear.
That took a while to figure out the Routing but it seemed to work.

But because I wanted to use all 16 Channels of the Ferrofish I upgraded to a RME Digiface USB but still want to use the Fireface so I have 24 IOs in Total.

I figured out how I can use all the Pulse 16 Channels as Hardware Inserts in Pro Tools and I hooked everything up to my Patchbay. But I cannot figure out how to use the Channels from the Fireface. I can see that Signal is going into the Fireface but nothing is coming Back to the ADAT Inputs from the Digiface.

I guess I may only have done something wrong cause I have to do the Routing in 2 different Total Mix FX Windows.

I will provide some pictures of my Total Mix FX Windows shortly. Maybe some can point me in the Right direction where my Problem is.

Re: Total Mix Routing Problems

Hi
It’s correct to have separate windows for each interface (or one window where you have to select the interface from menu top right). TotalMix runs on the hardware DSP chip, the app on the computer only controls it.
To get a setup with a 1:1 channel routing analog 1-8 to ADAT 1-8 and vice versa, you have to select (click) to analog 1 out to make it the visible mix, close ALL faders of hardware inputs and software playback except ADAT 1 input. Same for all the other channels, analog out 2 = ADAT in 2 and so on. And for the other way select ADAT 1 out, close all faders except analog in 1 and so on. Of course all the hardware output faders have to be raised up to 0.
As far I can see, your TotalMix window for the UC looks good.

I am still not used to using 2 different Windows for Routing but I have my 16 Channels from the Pulse 16 Working with my Patchbay and analog Gear. Right now I am recording Guitar and Bass for a Song and I just use the Fireface UC. And I started using Snapshots after I wasted a whole lotta time with panning and Channel Selection when I recorded Guitars and Bass...

If I can't get the Routing to work I will try and make a Video of my Routing etc.

Little Update:
Today I tried again to get my Routing done and it seems that I found the problem. In my Total Mix FX Windows for the Fireface UC I had to send the ADAT Ports to the Outputs. I think I had them get the Data from the analog Inputs.
