Topic: Digiface Dante standalone clock

Hello,

My goal would be to use a standalone Digiface Dante interface as a 64/64 MADI/Dante converter.

Is it possible for the Digiface Dante to be set up as Sync To External in the Dante controller and rely to inbound MADI for clocking ?

As far as I understand this is not possible, MADI being an addition to the Digiface Dante. But I may be mistaken ?

Back to my use case, the system I use revolves mainly around MADI for I/O.
I sometimes welcome Dante based systems (typically Yamaha CL/Rio).
Up until now I would externally clock the guest mixing desk to my system and set it up as the Dante master clock.
Then the I/O between the guest and the house system would be carried out through a limited number of AES3 links.
I know that I could keep this operating mode with the Digiface Dante (thus being a Dante clock slave) and benefit of 64/64 Dante/MADI I/O.

But recently I encountered some external clocking issues with a Yamaha CL5 mixing desk (typical clock like clic noise every 5 to 10 minutes), so I would feel better if I have a solution where I could provide the Dante master clock.

Thank you for your inputs smile

Re: Digiface Dante standalone clock

You define the clock in the Dante controller. Set to external clock MADI is used.
