Topic: Windows 10 BSOD when ADI-2 DAC FS powers off (after power off timeout)

This happened to me many times now, with the following conditions, but it does not happen every time when ADI-2 powers off:
- ADI-2 DAC FS connected via USB and MADIface v0.9827 (an issue since 2021 though)
- using foobar2000 v1.6.16 for playback
- if playback is paused (not stopped) and not resumed before the ADI power off timeout (60min) then the ADI powering off automatically *can* trigger a Windows 10 crash with blue screen
- *can* means that BSOD will not happen every time ADI powers off
- this never happened when playback is fully stopped

Windows tend to automatically reboot, so I don't have the exact fault message. But something with a sound driver SYS went wrong.

I have not seen any other BSOD in my system.

Just wondering if it's just me.

Did you install the ASIO component for the Foobar2000 ?
Download the ASIO component. Find the 'Get more components' link under File>Preferences>Components – it's near the bottom of the dialog box. ...
And enabled ASIO output mode in foobar ?

Thank you, forgot to add that: ASIO MADIface USB is selected as output in foobar.

Please try the latest driver 0.9840.

Any reason for using a foobar version from 2012? I'm using the RME ADI-2 Pro since 2018 with Windows 10 (and now 11), foobar version 1.3 to 2.1.3, MADIface 0.9673 to 0.9833, never had any blue screen.

Oops, that's a typo, I am actually using 1.6.16, just procrastinating with the update to 2.x ...

Still a problem with the latest driver.
Just had another system crash due to this.

This issue was not easy to debug and reproduce at the time, but we did change and perfected the driver to improve the behaviour - that worked for many people, though not all. I personally had this issue too, and - although daily switching between all ADI-2 versions multiple times - haven't had a BSOD on pause or off for at least a year. But yes, I also am on Windows 11 now.
