Topic: [Solved] Fireface UCX Only Playing Back One Channel

Please Help! This one has me stumped and it seems the problem is coming from within the UCX, perhaps due to a missed setting???

Only the LEFT channel (channel 1 hardware output) is playing back through speakers. Both left and right speakers are plugged in to the UCX, using Hardware output channels 1 & 2.

My DAW meters show two channels playing back and producing signal. But only one channel (channel 1) is playing back through speakers.

Totalmix is routing signal to channels 1 & 2. But only the LEFT channel in Totalmix is showing signal when accepting a stereo signal from the DAW.

'Reset all to stereo' mixer reset option was selected but did not change anything...still only getting one channel.

Matrix view 'Mono Mode' button is NOT engaged....

I cannot understand why only one channel is coming out of the UCX.


Yes, I have swapped cables, swapped left/right hardware outputs and verified the playback speaker is functional.  But still only get output from channel 1. I have checked every place a MONO button can be engaged, but none are engaged.

How about other outputs ?
Connect the speakers to outputs 3/4 or 5/6 etc. Routing in Totalmix has to adapt manually.
What Totalmix version is it ?
Try update firmware and driver.

Please post a screenshot from this submix (select the HW output) when audio is playing.

I would like to see whether SW playback (middle row, audio from PC) shows playback of two channels.
If not then the DAW doesn't send a stereo signal.

If the SW playback channel shows two channels, then it should be possible in TM FX to route that stereo signal to a stereo output.

Did you try a total reset of TotalMix FX already?

Was this issue from the beginning or when did it start?
How long do you have the UCX or did you just buy it used?

YES! After much searching I found a setting in the DAW that was the culprit. The Fireface is exonerated!
