Topic: Fireface 800 finally bit the dust. Can you help me decide what to do?

I've had my Fireface 800 for about 15 years, my first serious preamps and all.
It's been very slow to warm up for years, crackling and unstable sometimes for hours. I'd eventually just leave it on.

Cut to this Monday, there's a heatwave so I turned it off. figuring it should come back quickly cause of the heat. Nope. Now the lights are flickering and there's a clicking sound in the headphones.

So would you ship it for repair, or go for something new?
Any thoughts or input that could help me weigh this would be much appreciated.

If it's my unit I would send in for repair. May be it's only the internal power supply, repair is below 200.
If you have enough money and you like the idea of getting something new, check out UFX lll

Thanks for your input.
I guess a big factor is impatience. I just got a new Mac Studio and am itching to get to it.

But, as much amazing as the UFX III seems, I think I've decided to go for something cheaper, like the F8n Pro, which is portable too, AND get the Fireface repaired as well. Then I'll have a back up or it'll be ready to sell.

I'm a little high right now, so maybe making bad decisions wink

Well, after almost two days, it came back on!
I'm still planning on getting the F8n Pro as a backup and for portability.

Replacing the PSU is an easy job. I could do it myself in minutes and you can order them from the rme shop for around 100.
