Topic: Fireface 400 via PCIe. Please help!

Hi guys,

I really need your competent advice.
Is it acceptable to connect the Fireface 400 to PCIe (Ti) with a "6 pin => 6 pin" cable?

If I understand correctly, PCIe Ti board needs to be connected on the motherboard to the computer's PSU. But there are also PCIe boards with FW ports without connecting socket for a computer PSU. Therefore, I'm afraid to burn down the Firewire 400 if I connect it to the PCIe powered by a computer PSU using a 6pin-6pin cable.

Thanks in advance for the answers!

Re: Fireface 400 via PCIe. Please help!

No idea what this 6-pin cable is.
A photo of it would help.

From the Fireface 400 to the Firewire PCI card there you should use a regular Firewire cable.
For installing the PCI card, the manufacturers installing manual is to use.
What card is this ? brand and model ?

M1-Sequoia, Madiface Pro, Digiface USB, Babyface silver and blue

An additional power supply for the FW card (as with graphics cards) is possible, and should not harm anything at the FF400, but might also not be necessary.

I recommend this Delock card. Then you are doing nothing wrong. It has an external power connection but indeed it might be not necessary to connect.

Regular 6-pin FW400 cable. FW800 is 9-pin.
