Topic: ADI-2/4 Pro SE - ground unbalanced input

Hi,

I've just acquired a ADI-2/4 Pro SE and want to connect my turntable through its phono output via RCA to the Analog input of the converter. As instructed in the manual, I'll be using an adapter TRS plug to RCA. However, the manual also says:

"When using unbalanced cables with the XLR inputs, pin 3 of the XLR jack should be con-
nected to ground. Otherwise noise may occur, caused by the unconnected negative input of
the balanced input."

Does this apply to my use case? If so, how can I accomplish that?

Re: ADI-2/4 Pro SE - ground unbalanced input

Instead of TRS to RCA adapter you could use Ts to RCA adaptor for unbalanced connection.
The explanation for XLR connector don't apply to your usecase.

Re: ADI-2/4 Pro SE - ground unbalanced input

You need to use TS-adapters, not TRS (no ring).
These do connect XLR pin 3 / TRS’s ring to ground.

I guess you already do, so this would be fine.

Thanks both for the feedback! Thankfully I bought the correct adapter.
