Topic: Problem with Babyface (Non Pro) on Windows

Dear Forum,

I am a happy Babyface User since years! But since yesterday nothing works anymore

Whenever I select any Babyface output the "Player" runs crazy
-) Windows Media Player --> No output (or meter in Total Mix) Also no "progress" in the audio bar, so a 5 second wave file just never "finishes" However I can switch between Play and Pause with the main icon
-) VLC Media --> Very similar - However when I click on play it does not toggle to Pause
-) Dorico (Asio Driver) --> Play Starts, nothing happens internal meter does not show anything
-) Browser (Youtube) --> Video Starts to play but loading indicator never vanishes, no Audio, when I switch between Applications the video looks like fast forward

The Problem started while working inside some audio applications

All of these applications work as expected as soon I switch to onboard soundcard

What I tried already (no success)
-) Shut Down Windows
-) Trying different Buffer / Sample Rate Settings
-) Updating / Reinstalling the Driver
-) Checking if there are problems in Windows Device Manager and Running the "Troubleshoot common sound problems" wizard
-) Did some internet research, but somehow most probably I could not really find this specific problem

System Information

Z390 AORUS PRO
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700K CPU @ 3.60GHz   3.60 GHz
Windows 11 Pro N

Any Idea what this could be and how this could be solved? I could also try to setup a second PC and connect my Babyface to this one to rule out a hardware problem, but as I even can't see something inside the Audio Meters and the Problem is "visible" by strange behaviour in various Media Players and Applications I'd think that this can't be a hardware problem?

Thanks

Gabriel

Re: Problem with Babyface (Non Pro) on Windows

May you try disable onboard audio in the BIOS ?
Looks like driver conflict between two audio systems.
Sure the ASIO RME is in windows audio system selected ?

Re: Problem with Babyface (Non Pro) on Windows

Thanks Waedi!

I am currently on the road, but will try disabling later. I kind of ruled out this, as the problems started really during work (no reboot or anything) but trying it can't harm
UPDATE: Retest, also disabled onboard soundcard and (with selected Babyface) no audio output and strange behaviour in all Players

For the second question, yes I am shure about ASIO RME in windows audio system (and also in all of the audio applications like Dorico, and NI Kontrol, ...)

Re: Problem with Babyface (Non Pro) on Windows

May be one of the ASIO using applications is faulty, you can try to run the systems without one of them to sort out the problem-child. I would start with NI Kontrol.

Re: Problem with Babyface (Non Pro) on Windows

Thx again
All of them are closed (not 100% shore about background processes, but I closed all I could identify)
Still simple windows media player or vlc playback does not work ;(

Best regards
Gabriel

Re: Problem with Babyface (Non Pro) on Windows

Testing the Babyface on another computer (as you plan to do) will let you know wether the Babyface is faulty or the computer.
