Topic: Set Up ARC USB with UCX II and TotalMix on MacOS

Greets:
I'm a newbie to the RME world, copping a Fireface UCX II a few weeks ago. For now, it's replacing my older audio interface, so it'll take me some time to get used to using it, especially with TotalMix FX.

Yesterday, got the ARC USB controller. As someone with low vision issues, the screen on the UCX II is so small, that I'd have to have it about 2-3 inches from my eyes just to see it, so really happy that I can use TotalMix to control the box, and have the ARC to control the most basic functions. When I learn both TotalMix and the UCX II better, I'll surely take advantage of the custom features.

But I do have an immediate issue: when I log onto my Mac (I have macOS Sonoma), but default the TotalMix interface window appears on screen. I usually quit the application, but because I have the RME audio driver installed, the box still works fine and good. However, when I do quit TotalMix, the ARC stops working.

What I'd like to do is to have my Mac start up without opening TotalMix FX on screen, but I would like for the ARC to still be my device to control the UCX II. I've tried scanning for info on how to do this, but so far I'm not finding such info. I admit that I'm a newbie, so it may be just that. But at the least, until I have more time to get deep into the RME system, I would at least like for the setup described above to happen.

I hope that this is clear, but let me know if more clarity is needed. I'd appreciate any assistance on this; thank you.

Thats normal.
You shall not quit Totalmix, you can close the window and let Totalmix app running in the background.

Also you don't need to do anything else no startup items configuration or so.

The Totalmix app has to sturtup when athe interface is detected by the computer, means when you plug it in or boot the computer with attached unit.

totalmix will start but the window will close immediately and ARC have control over the interface via Totalmix.
ARC controls Totalmix.

Thanks for the reply and the info, Waedi; it all makes sense and I'm good with that.

Right now, the TotalMix window remains open after startup, but I think possibly the pop-up window that appears regarding a firmware update might be interrupting its ability to close. I just haven't gotten around to performing the update, so I hope once I do that the TotalMix window will close after startup so it'll do its thing in the background.

I appreciate the assistance. I look forward to digging into the RME world, soon.

Keep firmware and driver and MacOS up-to-date is not wrong.
Glad you are willing to solve issues. And I'm lokking forward it will work fine soon.

Thank you! That firmware update was a ridiculously easy install. Once I did a restart, sure enough the window opened and closed, and ARC was also working without a sweat. Slowly but surely, I'm getting into the RME world. Thanks again.
