Topic: ARC USB - Chosen Settings Not Working with Snapshots Buttons

Hey folks:
I have an ARC USB and a Fireface UCX II. I've been using the ARC for a few days, and turns out to be more than worth it to have as part of my home studio setup.

I was able to create a snapshot in TotalMix and assign it to one of the snapshot buttons. I also used another snapshot button as a toggle for opening and closing the TotalMix window. I then assigned Global Mute to another snapshot button, but pressing it did not mute. I then chosen Mute Main Out, but that did not work either. IN both cases, the light on the button is active, but again, no response.

I'm on a Mac using macOS Sonoma. Also, other buttons such as DIM and Volume are working. I also am using the latest firmware on the UCX II.

When you press those Mute buttons in Totalmix directly is it working as expected ?

Hey Waedi.

In TotalMix, it does mute when I click the button on main out.

What is your issue ?
When you load a snapshot, is there something missing or not working as expected ?

Did you misunderstand the function of the mute buttons ?
The global mute button alone does nothing.
It does not mute globaly.
It enables or disables the other mute buttons in the channels.

Okay; when I read "Global Mute," obviously, its function differs from what I was expecting. But I then tried Mute (Main Out), and pressing the button did not result in a response.

I went ahead and restarted the computer; I guess I might have simply restarted the interface. Anyway, after reboot, as TotalMix stared to land, I ended up with this message:

"Mismatch detected - Channel and FX settings of Fireface UCX II (24191468) and TotalMix are different."

I'm not yet sure how to deal whit ash one, but also when I clicked the Yes button, the key functions I set in snapshots did not work. In opening TotalMix, then entering the ARC options, I found  the snapshot buttons were reset. Not sure how, but I think it had to do with the mismatch issues. I set the key functions again, and this time the Mute (Main Out) did work, along with the TotalMix window toggle.

Which leads to the mismatch, and how best to clean that up.

If the current state is different from the stored snapshot, then the snapshot button blinks.
Click the Snapshot button to get those settings, then the blinking stops.

When your computer shuts down, all programs will be closed.
When TotalMix FX closes, then it writes its current state to disk.

Just to put an example, on Windows:
C:\Users\XYZ\AppData\Local\TotalMixFX\last.FirefaceUFXIII1.xml
                                                                                             ^---- number of device (1, 2, ...)
                                                                       ^^^^^^^^^^---- device


If you change something on the device before the next boot, like e.g., the volume or use it in standalone mode,
then TM FX will detect, on the next start, that its configuration is different from the one in the device
and asks you whether to take the config found on the device or that from the computer (TM FX).

In TM FX preferences, you can make two settings to change this behavior to initialize the device with the settings from TM FX,
then you do not get these messages. The device will always be initialized with settings from TM FX.
You can also set in preferences, whether the volume shall be restored to the value stored in the snapshot.

Thanks for the explanation, Waedi. I did choose the option suggested, restarted my Mac, and the settings were still in place. Great!

Gonna be some time before I take a deep dive into TotalMix and my interface, but for now I'm okay with what I got. Again, appreciate the help!
