Topic: Using an old ADI-8 pro for outboard fx

My set up is as follows

RME Raydat as my main interface.
RME Raydat out to ADI-2 using Aes/Ebu
Also
RME Raydat out-to Ferrofish Pulse 16 using 2x ADAT

All 16 of my ins are full because I use 8 channels for 4 sets of fx.
So far I haven’t had any latency problems what so ever. But I would love to get those 8 channels back for more synths.

So , if I get a old ADI -8 Pro to only use for those stereo effects, would I start having latency problems due to old conversion chips compared to ferrofish?

Thanks in advance for your help.

No not as long as you put stereo pairs on the same converter.

Do you mean on the same converter as the synths or all stereo pair effects on the same converter?

My plan was to use the older Adi-8 pro as just my effects converter.
The ferrofish will have all my instruments with the goal of sending the instrument to the effects and then into the computer for recording.

Yes that is a good plan.
It is just good practice to have signals which should be in phase on the same converter. Like stereo FX returns or a overhead pair of mics (etc).
