Topic: New! RME Firenet AIO

Hello, everyone!
Sorry for my funny English))

I just saw youtube Infocomm video.
Seems like there will be a new RME Firenet AIO card!!!
NICE one!!!
https://youtu.be/0kwW5_ynlnw?si=5imQtTM … w&t=84

I would like to know a few things that really important to me:

1) Is it bus-powered?   (in other infocomm video it is stated as bus-powered)

2) Does this unit have ability (DSP) to apply Room EQ? (independently to every pair of outputs)

3) Does it have INSTR inputs (for guitars)

4) Does all 4 preamps have 75db?

4) USB3 connection?

5) AD\DA converters - same as M1620 \ UFX III ? (AK4490) or something different?

6) Does it have SFP MADI or regular MADI?

7) Does it replace both AVB Tool and MADIface XT?

Thank you very much, RME team - you are the best!!!

Re: New! RME Firenet AIO

please give a link to that product or write exactly the name.
A Firenet AIO card is something I never heard of.

The only AIO I know is the hdsp AIO Pro : https://rme-audio.de/hdspe-aio-pro.html

M1-Sequoia, Madiface Pro, Digiface USB, Babyface silver and blue

Interesting video from USA, they have a showroom prototype unit and we in Europe never seen this before.
Not even rme-usa.com has one word about this device.
It seems the video you found is the only public leaking info so far.

M1-Sequoia, Madiface Pro, Digiface USB, Babyface silver and blue

Re: New! RME Firenet AIO

yeah, exactly)
but seems like it's very attractive piece of gear!

Re: New! RME Firenet AIO

Excited to learn more about this.

Re: New! RME Firenet AIO

Looks like a USB 3.0 upgraded version of the recently discontinued AVB Tool.  Hopefully they'll add a few bells and whistles.  I too am excited to see this new line.  I've been saying for years that if RME adds AVB / Dante to all their regular interfaces, you'd have a perfect system.  Start out with an interface and add additional converters to your system as your budget allows and your system grows via an AVB / Dante network.  Fingers crossed!

Except the little problematic, that sample rate changes in an network based setup (AVB, Dante) are not so easy compared to MADI, ADAT, AES

See this thread
https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.php?pid=196031

and the confirmation from RME that this is different
https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.ph … 89#p195989

When working with different sample rates (recording, mixing, mastering, listening to music with different sample rates)
then this is a big operational disadvantage that grows with the number of devices.

But its of course good, if devices support AVB and also Dante in case you need it, makes the device more flexible, but also more expensive, especially in the case of Dante.

Yep, I completely agree with the advantages of MADI with regards to different system clocks/rates.  I do hope that they ADD AVB/Dante and don't delete MADI from these new units!

I'm fortunate that for my particular setup, I'm able to run almost all of my devices at 96 kHz.  The few that are 48 kHz are AES, so I use the sample rate conversion feature of a couple of (the now discontinued) RME ADI-192 DD to handle the different clock rates.  Maybe not the most efficient way to do things, but it works for me.

Re: New! RME Firenet AIO

to be honest, I'm not interested at all,
AVB experience on 12Mic was nightmare (quickly went MADI and never looked back ever since), and even so, integration in TotalMix is nonexistent (compared to XTC), big shame!
Dante experience on Digiface Dante is subpar (instead of set and forget, good luck configuring some things in RME, but some things in Audinate Controller, oh and forget about resetting messed config which even firmware reset/upgrade can't do),
I don't consider myself IT noob, but so far all the AoIP landscape is one big annoyance with no real benefit so far (oh and I didn't even mention security yet)....

frankly all I ever wanted from RME can be achieved, but not in a single product:
HDSPe AIO + ADI-2 DAC is the ultimate mixing setup, while UFX III is the "allrounder"

HDSPe AIO, ADI-2 DAC, Fireface UFX, Octamic D, Octamic II
Reaper, Windows 11, M2 Studio

Re: New! RME Firenet AIO

I'm really looking forward to more information about this!  This seems like the sweet spot of a device along the lines of something like the DAD Core 256... but actually with some basic analog IO for monitoring and such.  At first glance, I can see it being a great all-around interface in the live world  for multitrack recording/virtual soundcheck playback, VST hosting, etc. for mid-size shows, and then also integrate into a studio environment using a Dante/Madi backbone.  I'm especially hoping it gets all the room correction/SoundID integration as well!

Re: New! RME Firenet AIO

I am excited about this one, I've been waiting for this since the AVB tool. I was certainly in the first 10 to buy it. I bought it I was sure the device was an audio interface since it has USB in the back. But no, to use it reliably you must have the Digiface AVB. we are talking 5K to have the privilege of 4 mic in AVB... It's been on my shelf since it was announced to be Milan-certified soon, so I am excited again. I just wish the price made sense in today's market. I don't wish it cheap. Just a genuinely good-priced product.
