Topic: Filter switching on M-32 Pro ii

I saw that the new m-1620 will have the option of manually switching the ad/da filters. Will there be eventually a possibility of implementing this option as well for the m-32 pro ii? This would be a really great add-on for mastering(Eg in immersive installations) if possible.

Re: Filter switching on M-32 Pro ii

Where did you see it? A URL as reference would be nice, thanks.

There was already a similar request for the UFX III, which incorporated the converters from the ADI-2 Pro FS, supporting various A/D and D/A filters. By now, this likely also applies to the UFX II and, I believe, the 802 FS.

At that time, the reasoning given was to ensure that audio material is processed with the filter that alters the audio signal the least (in terms of frequency response, etc.).
Therefore, I am surprised that this capability is now being considered for a "standard" AD/DA converter as M-1620.

I can understand it with the ADI-2, as its product positioning suggests there are additional use cases where the ability to switch D/A filters plays a role.

If this is indeed the case, then I see no reason to allow it for an M-1620 but prohibit it for a UFX III.
After all, the M-1620 is an expansion unit for UFX II, UFX III.

If I’m not mistaken, you can see this on the product page, second paragraph after the introduction:  https://rme-audio.de/m-1620-pro.html

Please copy and paste or make a screenshot, I don't see what you mean.

‘Add Analog and AVB I/O to any existing MADI devices

The M-1620 Pro allows manual configuration of the converter’s aliasing filters for optimal impulse and frequency response.’

Yes, this feature will be part of the next firmware release!

Hi Marc, could you then kindly plan to also enable it on UFX III/II?
I see then no reason to exclude this feature on those devices.
I think it would be very practical to perform the same settings on both devices if you extend an UFX III with an M-1620.

I’m delighted to hear this!
