Topic: [Solved] ADI-2 DAC FS , how to make a recording

Perhaps a stupid question, but… I own an ADI-2 dac since 2018. Just used it as a DAC-headphone amplifier.
Since a couple of days I have a WiiM pro plus, which has an ADC which transforms the analog signal from my turntable in a 192khz - 24 bit signal, which is transported to the ADI-2 dac by coax.
I would like to record this signal and thought it should be possible by setting the input on USB-coax and connect the ADI-2 by USB to my Mac….but no success.
I thought too that it would be possible to see the signal in Digicheck installed on this computer, but no…
What am I doing wrong?? Or is it just not possible?

Turntable -> Musical fidelity V-LSP-> WiiM ProPlus-> coax-> Adi-2-> USB-> Mac

Thanks, Rien

Sorry, the ADI-2 DAC

MacOS system preferences Audio input device : have you selected the DAC there ?
In the Audio-Midi-Setup app
Is the DAC listed as device with 2 Ins and 2 outs ?

Yes I did. When I open Digicheck it “says” ADI 2 is connected, 192kHz “OK”, but nothing else is displayed. Do I understand it well that it should be possible to make recordings in my configuration?
When I set I/O on the ADI on USB( rec coax), the input signal is via coax and the output is via USB?? In this setting no output is possible via Line or phones ( I don’t hear anything….)
What I do miss is knowledge……and a manual how to make a recording, with the settings on the ADI and in MacOS ( or Windows)

There is only one sample rate. If you send 192 kHz via Coax in then the playback via USB must be at 192 kHz as well.  That DOES work. Record also does work. You might have not selected the inputs in DigiCheck correctly.

And as mentioned in the manual (chapter 5.7) Loopback to USB must be off (default). As you have your unit since 2018 I would recommend to check that you use the latest firmware, had reset the unit, and then refer to the latest manual which includes a lot more and different information than the one that came with your unit:

Thank you for your reaction Matthias. Well, although from 2018…., firmware version on my dac: ADI-2 DAC: FPGA 81, DSP 62
Different sample rates was the problem and Loopback to USB was on…. I’ve got it all working, thanks!
