Topic: Is it safe to keep Babyface Pro FS on 24/7?

My PC is running 24/7.
Since Babyface Pro FS has no power off/on switch, it makes it running 24/7 as well. I assume RME took that into consideration and just wanted to confirm that it's safe to keep Babyface Pro FS turned on 24/7.
Could anyone from RME confirm that please? I am not going to hold you accountable for your words lol.

I just need to know if Babyface Pro FS has no problems running 24/7.

Thank you!

Re: Is it safe to keep Babyface Pro FS on 24/7?

I've let it run overnight when connected to my PC. The thing is made from a chunk of aluminum so it's great at heat dissipation and never felt more than slightly warm to me. Normally though, I "eject" it as a USB device and unplug it before logging off every night.

I'll be interested to see what others say about it smile

From the manual's tech specs: The BF Pro draws a mere 2.8 Watts in dile state. What you expect to get stressed, overheated or damaged with that little consumed power?

Hi MC
Does UCX II has idle mode?
There are no information about idle state for UCX II.....

The UCX II does not run bus powered. Its power consumption is listed in the manual.

The manual does not list the standby power, though, only "Typical power consumption: 13 Watts".

In fact, after having Babyface Pro FS for a couple of months I must admit that it's more convenient to not have a power button. Just start a plugin and go. Apparently, even one button less in a chain makes a huge difference smile

Re: Is it safe to keep Babyface Pro FS on 24/7?

I think this thread answers my question: from the sounds of it, the BFP FS doesn't draw enough power for it to be a concern that it is always on. Is that correct?

I used to shut my computer off completely and made sure the BIOS was setup to not supply power to the USB when it was off.

I've started just sleeping the computer. Got tired of crawling under the desk to turn it on. Now I just turn on my keyboard and starts up. However, sleeping it still supplies power to the USB and pretty sure there isn't a way to prevent that.
