Topic: UCX II Subwoofer Compatibility
Hi, I have a UCX II and a pair of IK Multimedia MTM MKII studio monitors. I'd like to buy the Speedwoofer 10S MKII sub to go with these monitors. I'm aware this is a bit of an untraditional setup but am wondering if it would be possible to do. I'm assuming the connections would go as follows: MTM MKII Monitors > Speedwoofer 10S MKII Sub > UCX II.
I contacted RSL who makes the Speedwoofer sub and they said they believe it will work:
It looks like this would be possible. I could be wrong, but it appears you could simply use a set of ¼” to RCA adapter cables from a set of outs on your UCX II to the Speedwoofer’s line level inputs.
However, they expressed concern with volume:
The only potential problem would be that I can’t be sure that the ¼” balanced outputs on the UCX II are variable – in other words, will the Speedwoofer’s volume be controlled by the UCX II? Or are the UCX II’s outputs fixed, to where you would need to make any volume adjustments on the Speedwoofer separately.
Was hoping someone could help me out here as I'm relatively new to this stuff. I'm assuming I'd be able to control both the speakers and subs via TotalMix. Thanks in advance for any information.
